Fastener selection

What to check when selecting belt fasteners

Belt thickness, pulley size and application details to discuss before ordering.

Measure the belt at the joint

Record the belt thickness and width, and identify the construction. Include information about cover wear or existing joint modifications where relevant. A photograph by itself rarely provides a complete selection basis.

Check the conveyor geometry

Provide the smallest pulley diameter and other relevant conveyor details for comparison with the fastener manufacturer’s selection information. Identify any belt-cleaning equipment or restrictions around the joint.

Describe the application

State the conveyed material and working environment. Include moisture, cleaning, corrosion or other application requirements that may affect the requested fastener specification.

Identify existing fasteners carefully

For a replacement, send the model or part number when available. Photograph both sides of the joint and include dimensions. Similar appearance alone does not confirm the correct size or material.

Include installation tools

Clarify whether the inquiry is for fasteners alone or a complete installation scope. Confirm the required tool, consumables and quantity before ordering.

This guide supports purchasing discussions. Model specifications and operating procedures must be confirmed in the applicable manufacturer documentation.
