1. Identify the belt construction
Start with the belt manufacturer’s description or data sheet. Record the reinforcement type, belt width and thickness. A nominal width does not describe every part of the jointing requirement.
2. Obtain the splice drawing
The splice drawing is a more useful basis for discussing heating dimensions than a machine name alone. Include the joint length, geometry and any bias angle. Ask for clarification if the drawing distinguishes overall and effective working dimensions.
3. Compare the complete configuration
Review the frame, platen arrangement, pressure system and controls together. Ask what is included in the quoted package and what must be supplied separately. A low headline price is difficult to compare when scope differs.
4. Check site compatibility
Confirm voltage, phase and frequency, as well as working space and handling restrictions. Include the intended cooling arrangement and available utilities in the conversation.
5. Keep process requirements separate from machine capability
The machine’s available range and the required splice settings are different pieces of information. The operating process must follow the belt supplier’s approved instructions and the selected machine’s documentation.
6. Ask for a written configuration
Before ordering, obtain an itemized configuration and the relevant technical information. Confirm dimensions, power requirements, included accessories, packing and commercial terms against your inquiry.
